I guess that would depend on what kind of deal you’re getting on the new frame and what shape it’s in. Of the two, I’d give my vote for the Jack. I’ve ridden a couple of them and they’re a nice design for jumping and stunts.
There are lots of heavy duty hardtails on the market now….check around to see what’s in your price range. The Ruckus is a good frame and GT will stand behind it, but if you want something different in the way it handles or whatever, you can certainly have it. Most frames like that will go from $200 to $500 new. Some, like the Jack, have more traditional head angles which are nice for most riding…..some have a very slack 67° or 68° angle that’s better for downhill stability to slow the steering and put weight further back. The shorter the chainstays are, the easier it is to do stunts, but you may run into tire clearance issues or limitations, depending on the design of the frame. Some of these hardtails are longer overall (chainstays and top tube….usually with a slack head) and are intended for hardtail freeriding. As those aspects shorten up, the bike becomes “better” for dirt jumps and tricks. Personally, I think the Ruckus is a great frame.
