hey guys, I'm new to cycling an just recently purchased a stock 2006 Trek 1200 SL (56cm)...turns out it's a tad bit too tall for me, so my friend ended up giving me a 2006 Fuji Roubaix Pro frame/fork for free (54cm) which would be perfect for me. I was just wondering if it's possible to strip all the parts from the Trek then transfer those parts onto the new Fuji frame? and if so how much do you think a typical LBS would charge to do this? thanks guys!

Before I decide to upgrade however, I wanted to know what the advantages would be for the carbon frames over the aluminum. Will the ride be more comfortable with less road vibrations compared to the aluminum frame? Will the carbon be lighter as well? Will the ability to climb the hills be about the same or better with the carbon frame? Keep in mind that I know that the carbon frames (especially the high end Madones) are leaps and bounds better than my Trek 1500. But I am wondering if the Trek Pilot 5.0 or Trek Madone 4.5 which are the ones in my price range will be noticeably different. I have not gone and test ridden either bike yet as I don’t want to tempt myself to much yet.

I was thinking a long enough bike cable that I can put each end through each tire and then through the frame.. tightly locking it to a post.. Anywhere I can get strong bike lock that long?
I can keep it inside at work.. The break room door is always open and it is right next to the bathroom and sometimes lost customers find their way in there thinking it is the bathroom (no clue why) There is a one sided cage along the wall next to the break room random things are hung on.. I'll be locking it up there
